Argentina Today.

The following response came from argentina from a friend,(vicky),to my question about the conditions in argentina today after the default and the throwing out of the IMF from the country...

1.COST OF LIVING: I live in a small town (60.000 inh) 2 hours away from buenos aires. I live on my own so I pay rent and everything myself and I barely make ends meet with about US$650 a month (that's my salary). I have three dogs to support and no cable tv or internet. It's cheaper to live up north and more expensive in the south.

2. LAND: umm... a house, here in my town, in the centre, with 2 bedrooms, a small garden and a living-room-cum-kitchem-cum dining room, no garage, costs about $250.000 (argentinean pesos). Land for farming, that, I don't know.

3. FARMING: you say you want to create a self-dependent farm. Well, of course that's possible and I'm sure you don't need a lot of land for that so it wouldn't be that expensive to set it up. I live in a farming area. If you tell me how much land you would like to buy, I can ask around. They've told me that there's a place in Ecuador where you can set up your house for free on the piece of land you want, but I don't know where that is.
